p. 50, #400: Zachariah⁵ WHITNEY was born 2 Oct 1732, Pomfret, CT, according to Pomfret vital records, volume 1, page 51.

p. 50, #401: Moses⁵ WHITNEY was born 7 Jul 1735, not 27 Jun 1735, Pomfret, CT, according to Pomfret vital records, volume 1, page 51.

p. 50, #403: Ephraim³ WHITNEY married Rhoda -----, and had seven children born in Montague, MA, not treated by Pierce.

p. 50, #404: There was a Joseph WHITNEY who married Mary LYON, but I think that that was Joseph⁵ WHITNEY, son of Joseph⁴ and Rebecca (BEAL) WHITNEY [Josiah³, (prob.)Benjamin², John¹]. The subsequent history of Joseph⁵ WHITNEY whose birth is given here is unknown to me.

p. 50, #118: Ezekiel⁴ WHITNEY married secondly Sarah PARKE, not Sarah FARRAH, born 23 Feb 1706/7, Stonington, CT, daughter of William and Jane (BORDEN) PARKE.

p. 50, #410: Isabel⁵ WHITNEY was born 15 Apr 1731, not 13 Apr 1731, according to Archive:Connecticut, Vital Records, Barbour Index#I Pomfret, CT, vital records.

p. 50, #411: Zerviah⁵ WHITNEY was born 11 Mar 1731/2, not 15 Mar 1732, Pomfret, CT, according to Pomfret, CT, vital records. She married, 1 Nov 1749, Kent, CT, Reuben McWETHY.

p. 50, #120: Thomas⁴ WHITNEY was born 17 Sep 1681, not 17 Jul 1681, as Pierce has it, nor 17 Sep 1687, as found in Stow vital records. The gap between the marriage in 1704 and the first recorded child in 1714 leads one to believe that there may have been four or five unrecorded children born in this gap in this family, as well as some after 1714. Some possibilities are:

• Elizabeth WHITNEY who married 24 Apr 1733, Lancaster, MA, Josiah WHITNEY.
• John WHITNEY who, with wife Lydia, had two children born in Lexington in 1735 and 1737.
• Sarah WHITNEY "of Stow" who married 19 Dec 1741, Harvard, MA, John PRIEST.
• William WHITNEY who, wife wife Sarah, had son John born in Lancaster in 1743.
• Abigail WHITNEY who married 26 Mar 1747, Lancaster, MA, Mr. Jonathan BAYLEY.
• Hepsebeth WHITNEY who married 17 Oct 1747, Stow, MA, Abraham RUGG.
• Charles WHITNEY "of Quabin" who married 14 Jul 1753, Acton, MA, Rebecca WOOD.

p. 50, #418: Joseph⁵ WHITNEY married Hannah CHANDLER, not Hannah (SANBORN) CHANDLER.

p. 50, #122: John⁴ WHITNEY made a will dated 3 Sep 1747, and proved 3 Nov 1747, so he died between those dates, not in 1757.

p. 50, #419: Elizabeth⁵ WHITNEY married firstly (int. 15 Nov 1728, Stow, MA) Isaiah⁴ WHITNEY, #140 on page 53. This is proved by her mother's will, which mentions granddaughter Betty BRUCE. This was Betty⁵ (WHITNEY) BRUCE, wife of Samuel BRUCE, daughter of Isaiah⁴ and Elizabeth⁵ (WHITNEY) WHITNEY, born 3 Jan 1733/4, Harvard, MA. Thus this Elizabeth⁵ WHITNEY must be the one who married Isaiah⁴ WHITNEY. After his death on 9 Aug 1737, she married secondly Jonathan SAWYER, Jr., of Harvard.
