William Whitney, parentage unknown, was born say 1780 and died 4 Mar 1813, Groton, MA.[1]
He married 5 Sep 1803, Anna Lakin.[2] She was probably the Nancy Lakin, daughter of Robinson and Hepzibath (Lakin) Lakin, who was born 1 Apr 1786, Groton, MA. She "Mrs." married secondly, 4 May 1817, Pepperell, MA, Peter Williams,[3] and had four more children.
On 19 Mar 1813, Groton, Anna Whitney, widow of William, requests that Luther Lakin of Shirley be appointed administrator of her husband's estate.
His death date is given as 4 Mar 1813.
On 20 Mar 1813, bond was posted by Luther Lakin of Shirley, with Stephen Barrett of Shirley, tanner, and Jonas Livermore of Shirley, cordwainer, as sureties, as administrator of the estate of William Whitney, late of Groton.
Inv. taken 25 Mar 1813 by Abel Tarbell, Samuel Dodge, and Zechariah Fitch, Jr. The estate was insolvent.[4]

Leander Robinson Whitney, b. 22 Mar 1812, Pepperell, MA;[10] d. 2 May 1830, Pepperell, MA, aged 18 years, of consumption, "at Peter Williams".[11]
